FAQs | Brantford Classes In Salsa, Bachata, and West Coast Swing
Do I need a partner to join?
Not at all! Many students join solo, and it’s actually a great way to learn. We rotate partners throughout class, so you’ll dance with different people and build confidence quickly. It’s also a fantastic way to meet new friends in the community.
I've never danced before. Where do I start?
Welcome! Complete beginners start with Level 1 classes, which are specifically designed for new dancers. You’ll learn at a comfortable pace with others who are also just starting out. After one or two 8-week cycles, many students feel ready to progress to Level 2, though you’re always welcome to repeat any level to build confidence.
Can I join after week 1?
Yes. You can usually join within the first three (3) weeks of a session, as long as there is space and the level is still a good fit for you. (your instructor can guide you with this after your 1st lesson with us). After that, it is better to wait for the next block so you do not feel behind.
What should I wear to class?
Keep it comfortable! Regular workout clothes or casual attire that allows easy movement is perfect. For footwear, choose shoes with smooth soles that let you pivot easily—dance shoes, leather-soled shoes, or lightweight flats work great. Avoid rubber-soled sneakers with heavy treads. Heels are optional but should feel stable and secure.
Class Locations & Schedule
Where are classes held?
All classes take place at one convenient location: Brantford Air Force Club, 144 Grey Street, Brantford, ON. Here’s our typical weekly schedule:
- 6:00 PM – Bachata Level 2
- 6:45 PM – Salsa Level 2
- 7:30 PM – Salsa Level 1
- 8:15 PM – West Coast Swing Level 1
Please note: This is our template schedule for the year. Always check your confirmation email or our website for the most up-to-date class times, as schedules may vary.
Our team is always available by text to help if you’re taking multiple classes or have any questions.
Where exactly do I park at Brantford Air Force Club?
Park in the main parking area at Brantford Air Force Club, 144 Grey Street.
Please arrive 10–15 minutes early on your first night so you have time to park, find the entrance, and check in without feeling rushed.
Which entrance should I use?
Use the main public entrance for Brantford Air Force Club. Once inside, follow the music.
Or ask the instructor or any student where your dance class is being held.
Passes & Flexibility
How do the different pass options work?
We offer 4-, 8-, and 16-week passes so you can choose what fits your schedule and budget. Each pass gives you one class per week. The best part? You can switch between class levels or even locations (Georgetown, Milton, or Guelph) as space allows. We want dancing to fit seamlessly into your life!
What if I miss a class?
Life happens – we get it! If you miss a class, you have two options:
- Attend the same level at our other locations during the same week
- Extend your pass by one week
- Use the credit toward a future class when available
Just let us know in advance, and we’ll help you find the perfect makeup option.
Can I switch between Brantford, Arthur, Erin, Waterloo, Guelph, Milton, or Georgetown?
Yes, when space allows and the class level matches your experience. Your pass is designed to be flexible, but please message us before attending a different city so we can confirm the right class, level, and location for you.
Community & Practice
What age groups do you welcome?
Our community includes dancers from ages 13 to 70! Whether you’re a teen looking for a fun activity, an adult trying something new, or an active senior staying fit, you’ll find a welcoming environment with others at similar skill levels.
Where can I practice outside of class?
Exciting news! We’re launching “Next Step Socials”—regular social dance nights right here in Brantford. These events will give you a chance to practice what you’ve learned, dance with fellow students, and enjoy a fun, relaxed atmosphere. Details about dates, venue, and pricing coming soon!
Payment & Safety
What payment methods do you accept?
We make it easy to pay:
- Online: Secure payment through Punchpass
- In-person: Cash or e-transfer available upon request
Just let us know your preference, and we’ll accommodate you!
What safety measures are in place?
Your health and comfort are our priorities. Both venues feature:
- Excellent ventilation systems
- Spacious, clean dance floors
- Regular cleaning of all surfaces
- Clear entry and exit signage
- A respectful, inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome
Are taxes included in the listed price?
No. The listed pass price is before HST. Punchpass shows the HST amount before checkout, so you can review the full total before completing your purchase.
Can teenagers join the Brantford Salsa & Bachata classes?
Yes. While our Brantford Salsa and Bachata classes are mostly designed for adults, we also welcome teenagers when the class is a good fit. Partner dancing usually works best for students around 14 or 15+, though mature students 13+ are also welcome, especially when attending with a parent or guardian.
This can be a great activity for parents to share with their teenagers. It also gives teens a positive way to build confidence, practise respectful communication, and learn how to interact with people of different ages, including peers, adults, and the opposite gender.
Please note that some of our events or activities may take place in venues where a licensed bar is available. In those settings, parents and guardians are responsible for supervising their teenagers and ensuring they do not purchase or consume alcohol.
Please contact us before registering a younger student so we can help place them in the right class.
How do I choose Level 1 vs Level 2?
Choose Level 1 if you are brand new, nervous, rusty, or still building confidence with Salsa and Bachata basics. Choose Level 2 if you already know basic timing, turns, partner connection, and can dance comfortably without starting from scratch. When in doubt, start with Level 1; we can help you move up when you are ready.
Do I need to buy a pass before arriving?
Buying your pass before class is strongly recommended because it saves your spot and makes check-in easier. If you need help paying by cash or e-transfer, contact us before class so we can guide you.
Who do I contact if Punchpass gives me trouble?
Contact FDComm support at letsdance@fdcommunity.com or use the website WhatsApp chat and choose Support Nico K. Please include your name, the class/location, the pass you are trying to buy, and a screenshot of the issue so we can help faster.
